non-invasive detection of esophageal cancer using genetic changes in circulating cell-free dna

چکیده
cell free dna (cfdna) is a genetic biomarker that is present in serum or plasma in high concentration in many types of cancer. identification of circu-lating cancer related dna molecules in serum or plasma is a non-invasive tool for early diagnosis and prognosis in many cancer patients. for this review, study selection and data extraction were performed by the authors. detection of point mutations, microsatellite alterations, dna hypermethylations and losses of heterozygosity in circulating cell free dna have been characterized in esophagus cancer. application of circulating cell free dna as a biomarker, provide the best opportunity for constructing non-invasive tests for early de-tection, prognosis and management of cancer patients, after therapy in many types of cancer.

متن کاملCell-free circulating tumor DNA in cancer.
Cancer is a common cause of death worldwide. Despite significant advances in cancer treatments, the morbidity and mortality are still enormous. Tumor heterogeneity, especially intratumoral heterogeneity, is a significant reason underlying difficulties in tumor treatment and failure of a number of current therapeutic modalities, even of molecularly targeted therapies. The development of a virtua...
متن کاملearly non-invasive determination of fetal sex using cell-free dna
the first step in the prenatal diagnosis of x-linked genetic disorders is determining fetus gender. current invasive methods to obtain the dna source of the fetus instead of its miscarriage risk, has harmful stress for high risk pregnancies. cell free fetal dna (cffdna) circulating in the maternal blood, has now become a useful source of noninvasive prenatal diagnosis. considering limitation of...
متن کاملUsing circulating cell-free DNA to monitor personalized cancer therapy.
High-quality genomic analysis is critical for personalized pharmacotherapy in patients with cancer. Tumor-specific genomic alterations can be identified in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from patient blood samples and can complement biopsies for real-time molecular monitoring of treatment, detection of recurrence, and tracking resistance. cfDNA can be especially useful when tumor tissue is unavailable o...
متن کاملDetection of breast cancer using non-invasive X-ray diffraction technique of hair: A preliminary study
Background: An early diagnosis of breast cancer relates directly to an accurate treatment plan and strategy. Early detection of breast cancer before its development would be a significant reduction of morbidity and mortality rates. The aim of this preliminary study is to investigate the sensitivity of Wide Angle X-ray diffraction (WAXRD) method on women hair samples of healthy and breast cancer...
متن کاملUtility of KRAS mutation detection using circulating cell‐free DNA from patients with colorectal cancer
In this study, we evaluated the clinical utility of detecting KRAS mutations in circulating cell-free (ccf)DNA of metastatic colorectal cancer patients. We prospectively recruited 94 metastatic colorectal cancer patients. Circulating cell-free DNA was extracted from plasma samples and analyzed for the presence of seven KRAS point mutations. Using the Invader Plus assay with peptide nucleic acid...
